SOUTHAMPTON, England (AP) — Maxwel Cornet scored twice for Burnley to salvage a point in a 2-2 draw at Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Ivory Coast winger scored early at St. Mary's on a header and equalized with a dipping half-volley in the 57th minute after teenager Tino Livramento and 20-year-old Armando Broja netted for Southampton.

Burnley's fourth draw of the season keeps it in the relegation zone with fellow winless clubs Newcastle and Norwich after nine games.

Cornet, signed from French club Lyon this summer, opened the scoring in the 13th when he headed Matthew Lowton's cross to the far post and past goalkeeper Alex McCarthy.

Southampton's Theo Walcott shot wide left in the 36th before Nathan Redmond squandered an even better chance two minutes later, missing the target on what should have been an easy tap-in.

The 18-year-old Livramento, a former academy player for Chelsea, then curled a left-footed shot off the far post. But the right back didn't need to wait long for another chance to score his first Premier League goal when he powered in a header off a corner kick in the 41st.

Shortly after the break, Chelsea loanee Broja beat goalkeeper Nick Pope with a shot into the far left corner after a a wayward pass by defender James Tarkowski.

Southampton, with just one win on the season, couldn't protect the lead. Ashley Westwood lobbed a pass to Cornet just outside the area and the winger turned to strike it on the half-volley into the net.

Burnley’s last Premier League win was a 2-0 victory over Fulham in May.
