Chargers sign Larry Rountree III; Dicker, Sarell elevated
COSTA MESA, Calif. (AP) — The Los Angeles Chargers signed running back Larry Rountree III to their active roster on Saturday, and kicker Cameron Dicker and offensive tackle Foster Sarell were elevated from the practice squad for Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Rountree, a sixth-round pick by the Chargers last year, had spent all of this season on the practice squad. He had 36 carries for 87 yards and a touchdown last season as well as seeing limited duty as a kick returner.
The Chargers had an open roster spot after they waived defensive tackle Jerry Tillery on Friday. Tillery was the team's first-round pick in 2019.
Dicker was named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week after kicking two field goals, including one from 37 yards as time expired in last Sunday's 20-17 victory over the Atlanta Falcons.
Sarell or Storm Norton could get the start at right tackle if Trey Pipkins is unable to go. Pipkins suffered a knee injury last week and is listed as questionable on the team's injury report.
