Bears sign DT Billings to two-year contract extension
CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Bears signed defensive lineman Andrew Billings to a two-year contract extension through 2025.
The club announced the deal on Thursday. General manager Ryan Poles said in a statement the team was “excited to be able to keep Andrew in Chicago.”
Poles cited Billings' professionalism, dependability and toughness as attributes they want in the organization.
Billings, at 6-foot-1, 311 pounds, signed with the Bears as a free agent this past March. He's started all eight games this season with 14 tackles and a three stops behind the line of scrimmage.
Billings is in his seventh NFL season. He's played in 75 games with 59 starts with 134 tackles, 4.5 sacks and 16 quarterback hurries.
Billings was a fourth-round draft pick out of Baylor by Cincinnati, where he played from 2017-19. He was with Cleveland in 2020 and 2021 before going to Las Vegas last season.
The Bears (2-6) play at New Orleans on Sunday.
