Shepherd scores 23, La Salle takes down Saint Bonaventure 72-59
PHLADELPHIA (AP) — Daeshon Shepherd had 23 points in La Salle's 72-59 victory over Saint Bonaventure on Wednesday night.
Shepherd also had seven rebounds for the Explorers (13-14, 4-10 Atlantic 10 Conference). Jhamir Brickus added 15 points while going 5 of 10 (3 for 5 from 3-point range), and he also had five assists. Tunde Vahlberg Fasasi shot 3 for 9, including 3 for 8 from beyond the arc to finish with 10 points.
Chad Venning led the way for the Bonnies (16-10, 7-7) with 22 points. Saint Bonaventure also got 14 points from Moses Flowers. In addition, Daryl Banks III finished with eight points.
La Salle took the lead with 9:52 remaining in the first half and did not give it up. The score was 36-28 at halftime, with Shepherd racking up 14 points. La Salle extended its lead to 65-45 during the second half, fueled by a 10-0 scoring run. Brickus scored a team-high nine points in the second half.
