NAIA-member Our Lady of the Lake stuns Texas State 61-58
SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) — Ruben Monzon had 18 points and 11 rebounds and NAIA-member Our Lady of the Lake beat Texas State 61-58 on Saturday night.
It was Our Lady of the Lake third-year coach Chris Dial's first victory over a Division I program. The Saints also upset Texas State 127-126 in overtime in 2010.
Evan White's layup gave the Saints a 57-56 lead with 1:48 to play, and his two free throws capped the scoring with seven seconds left. Caleb Asberry then missed a 3-pointer for Texas State.
Quenton Coleman had 12 points for Our Lady of the Lake. White had seven points and five steals.
Mason Harrell had 13 points for the Bobcats (3-3). Alonzo Sule added 12 points and 11 rebounds. Isiah Small had 11 points and 11 rebounds.
