Harris scores 19, Law has 18 as South Alabama defeats Jacksonville State 71-65
JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Chaze Harris scored 19 points and Peyton Law had 18 for South Alabama in a 71-65 win over Jacksonville State on Wednesday.
Harris was 9 of 14 from the field, and also contributed six rebounds and two steals for the Jaguars (6-0). Law was 7-of-11 shooting and added six rebounds. Jayden Cooper went 5 of 10 from the field (1 for 5 from 3-point range) to finish with 13 points. It was the sixth straight win for the Jaguars to begin this season.
The Gamecocks (3-1) were led in scoring by Anthony Bryant, who finished with 24 points and eight rebounds.
Mostapha El Moutaouakkil had nine points and six rebounds, a departure from his previous scoring bursts. He entered the game as the top scorer in the nation, averaging 26.7 points per game. He was 4-of-11 shooting and missed all three of his 3-point attempts.
Cooper scored eight points in the first half and South Alabama went into halftime trailing 31-25. Harris' 15-point second half helped South Alabama close out the six-point victory.
