ST. LOUIS -- The St. Louis Cardinals shuffled a couple of relief pitchers Thursday, recalling right-hander Mike Mayers from Triple-A Memphis to replace right-hander Sam Tuivailala, who was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a left knee strain.

Tuivailala's move was retroactive to April 10. He joins pitchers Brett Cecil, Luke Gregerson, Alex Reyes and Ryan Sherriff on the DL.

Mayers is back with the big-league club after being demoted April 9. He did not pitch for the Redbirds before his recall to the Cardinals, for whom he has allowed one run over two innings in two games this season.

Tuivailala has allowed two runs on six hits in four games with St. Louis this season. He worked two scoreless innings of relief Monday.
