Sam Houston State beats Houston Baptist 42-20

HOUSTON (AP) — Freshman Ty Brock threw for 251 yards and two touchdowns, and fourth-string quarterback Ryan Humphries added another score, helping Sam Houston State beat Houston Baptist 42-20 on Saturday.

Dee Bowens caught six passes for 133 yards and two touchdowns for Sam Houston State (6-5, 5-4 Southland Conference). Nathan Stewart added seven grabs, 100 yards and a 56-yard score, to go over the 1,000-yard mark on the season. He's just the fourth player in FCS history to go for 1,000 yards in his freshman, sophomore and junior seasons.

Derick Roberson led the Sam Houston State defense with his 15th sack of the season, tying Andre Finley's single-season school record.

Bailey Zappe threw for 219 yards and was intercepted twice for Houston Baptist (1-10, 0-9). LaDarius Dickens rushed for 121 yards and Dreshawn Minnieweather added 105 and a TD. The Huskies also lost two fumbles, losing the turnover battle 4-2.
