Montana State extends Choate through 2021

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 3:00 p.m. ET

(STATS) - Montana State announced it has extended coach Jeff Choate's contract by three years through the 2021 season on Thursday.

Choate has a 9-13 record in two seasons, including 5-6 last year after the Bobcats ended the campaign by beating rival Montana for the second straight time. His original contract went through the 2018 season.

"I am excited about the progress Jeff has made and continues to make with our football team," athletic director Leon Costello said. "He and his staff are building this program the right way, attracting high-quality student-athletes that are performing in the classroom and on the field. The foundation is set for the future of Bobcat football."

Montana State will open spring practice on March 3.
