Mount St. Mary's controls Sacred Heart 86-75 (Jan 19, 2017)

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP) Elijah Long had 19 points and Junior Robinson and Miles Wilson each scored 17 as Mount Saint Mary's led all the way in beating Sacred Heart 86-75 on Thursday night.

Mount Saint Mary's (8-12, 6-1 Northeast Conference) posted a 19-4 lead to begin the game with 14 points coming from Long, Robinson, and Wilson. Mawdo Sallah's jumper with 9:59 before halftime put the Mountaineers out in front 35-11.

The Mountaineers led Sacred Heart (8-12, 3-4) 51-27 at the break. The Pioneers rallied with a 26-7 spurt in the first 8:25 of the second half and trailed 58-55 on Quincy McKnight's layup but couldn't get closer.

Chris Wray had 13 rebounds for Mount Saint Mary's, and Long added seven assists and six rebounds but committed nine of the Mountaineers' 23 turnovers. Greg Alexander had 12 points and Sallah added 10.

McKnight scored 26 points for Sacred Heart. Chris Robinson added 14, Matej Buovac 12, and Joseph Lopez had 11 points and 10 rebounds.
