Hot-shooting Belmont beats South Alabama 98-85

KENNESAW, Ga. (AP) Evan Bradds scored a career-high 30 points on 14-of-15 shooting and Belmont made 69 percent of its shots in the second half for a 98-85 victory over South Alabama on Monday in the Legends Classic.

Two free throws by Amanze Egekeze gave Belmont a 78-68 lead - the first double-digit advantage for either team - with 7:18 left. South Alabama scored the next five points, but Belmont answered with a 12-0 run, with six straight points from Bradds, to extend its lead to 90-73.

Craig Bradshaw added 17 points and Taylor Barnette had 15 for Belmont (3-2).

Belmont trailed 47-46 at halftime but outscored South Alabama 52-38 in the second half. The Bruins made 18 of 26 shots after halftime.

Ken Williams led South Alabama (1-3) with 19 points. Georgi Boyanov and Taishaun Johnson had 16 apiece.
