ORLANDO, Fla. -- The American host mother of Central Florida's 7-foot-6 Senegalese recruit says the school has filed for an academic waiver to allow him to play while the NCAA continues to review his high school records.

Mandy Wettstein said in a statement Thursday that the waiver has been filed in hopes that Tacko Fall can play in UCF's season opener against Davidson on Saturday.

Liberty Christian Prep also released a statement in which it says it received in April 2014 saying information received by the NCAA Eligibility center revealed no immediate issues. The letter also stated that though the school would undergo an extended evaluation process, eligibility of prospective college athletes would be reviewed individually.

Fall graduated from Liberty Christian this past spring and has been enrolled at UCF since June.

He is no longer being allowed to practice while the NCAA continues to review his academic record.

The governing body and UCF have declined to comment on Fall's status.
