Defenseman Tim Erixon re-signs with Jackets for next season

Defenseman Tim Erixon has re-signed with the Blue Jackets, inking a one-year contract.

The move was announced by Columbus general manager Jarmo Kekalainen on Tuesday, according to the Jackets’ website.

CapGeek.com lists the deal at $600,000.

The 23-year-old blue liner played 50 games for the Blue Jackets’ American Hockey League affiliate in Springfield, Mass, last season, tallying five goals and 33 assists for the Falcons. In two NHL games in 2013-14, he posted no points and a plus-2 rating.

Erixon has played 51 games in the NHL, including 18 for the New York Rangers. He was drafted by the Calgary Flames with the 23rd overall pick in 2009.
