Darcy Kuemper - Set to face HurricanesKuemper is expected to start on the road against Carolina on Friday, Bailey Johnson of The Washington Post reports.

ImpactKuemper has a 13-13-3 record, 3.32 GAA and .888 save percentage in 32 outings in 2023-24. This will be his first start since March 22, when he stopped just 18 of 22 shots in 39:54 of ice time before being pulled en route to a 7-6 shootout win over the Hurricanes. Although Washington won that contest, given how Kuemper performed on a personal level, he'll be entering this rematch with something to prove. The Hurricanes, who rank eighth offensively this year with 3.34 goals per game, are a challenging adversary.

Valtteri Puustinen - Snags helper ThursdayPuustinen picked up an assist in Thursday's 4-1 victory over Washington.

ImpactPusstinen was able to end a four-game pointless steak, though he remains mired in a nine-game goal drought dating back to March 17 versus Detroit. During his goalless streak, the 24-year-old winger has been averaging just 11:37 of ice time, which certainly won't improve his chances of bending the twine any time soon.

Lars Eller - Scores goal, assist in winEller scored a goal on three shots and earned an assist versus the Capitals on Thursday.

ImpactEller made his former club pay with a two-point effort that will boost the Penguins' long-shot chances of making the postseason. With his empty-net tally, the 34-year-old center was also able to bring his eight-game goal drought to a close. If he can secure just one more point, Eller can get back over the 30-point threshold after missing that make last year.

Matthew Phillips - Back in NHLPhillips was recalled from AHL Hershey on Friday, Sammi Silber of The Hockey News reports.

ImpactPhillips has a goal and four assists in 28 appearances with the Capitals this season, as well as playing three games for the Penguins with nary a point. Phillips is likely to be an extra forward Friday in Carolina, barring a couple of injuries up front.

Jansen Harkins - Cleared for contractHarkins (hand) has been cleared for contact and participated in practice Friday, Matt Vensel of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

ImpactHarkins could be nearing a return from a 15-game absence due to his hand injury, though he will need to be activated off injured reserve before he can suit up. The 26-year-old Cleveland native is stuck in an 18-game pointless streak and hasn't found the back of the net in 43 games this season. As such, his potential return to action likely won't impact the majority of fantasy players.
