Coors Field, Denver, CO
Mason Thompson - Dealt loss WednesdayThompson (1-3) failed to record an out, yielding two runs on a hit, a hit batter and a walk to take the loss versus Colorado on Wednesday.
ImpactThe right-hander made a mess of things in the third inning, allowing Colorado to take the lead after a long rain delay. Thompson has allowed six runs (five earned) through 10.1 innings across 14 appearances in September. For the year, he has a 3.65 ERA, 1.78 WHIP and 23:14 K:BB in 24.2 innings between Washington and San Diego. He's also posted seven holds in 30 outings.

Paolo Espino - Start shortened by rainEspino yielded four runs on four hits and a walk with no strikeouts in two innings versus Colorado on Wednesday. He did not factor in the decision.
ImpactEspino's start was cut short by a weather delay in Colorado, although he wasn't pitching all that well prior to the stoppage. The right-hander's biggest mistake was a three-run home run he allowed to Ryan McMahon in the first inning. Espino has a 4.27 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 92:25 K:BB through 109.2 innings, likely his final numbers this season despite the short start. He's done well enough to be considered for a spot in the rotation in 2022.

Sam Hilliard - Swipes bag WednesdayHilliard went 1-for-5 with a pair of RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's 10-5 win over Washington.
ImpactThe outfielder has hit safely in his last two games after going on an 0-for-11 skid in the three contests before that. Hilliard hasn't had a great year with the bat, slashing .211/.288/.441 across 226 plate appearances. He's added 12 home runs, 30 RBI, 29 runs scored and four steals in 78 games. He's received regular playing time across the outfield in September despite the poor batting numbers.

Ryan McMahon - Plates four in winMcMahon went 1-for-4 with a home run, a walk, four RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's 10-5 win over Washington.
ImpactMcMahon went deep with a three-run shot in the first inning, his 23rd long ball of the year. He's one homer shy of his career-best 24 from 2019. The infielder has added a .254/.333/.452 slash line with 85 RBI, 79 runs scored and six stolen bases through 583 plate appearances this year. He's hit safely in each of the last five games, going 5-for-20 with a homer and three doubles in that span.
SEPTEMBER 30, 2021ROTOWIRE
Trevor Story - Perfect at plate WednesdayStory went 4-for-4 with a walk and three runs scored in Wednesday's 10-5 win over Washington.
ImpactThe shortstop appears set to end the year on a hot run, as he's gone 7-for-11 with three walks, a home run and a double in his last three games. Story's hits Wednesday were all singles, but the four-hit effort lifted his slash line to .253/.331/.477 through 586 plate appearances. He's added 24 home runs, 19 stolen bases, 74 RBI and 88 runs scored as one of Colorado's best hitters even in a somewhat disappointing season by his standards.
SEPTEMBER 30, 2021ROTOWIRE
Ashton Goudeau - Collects win WednesdayGoudeau (2-1) allowed a hit and two walks while striking out four in 2.1 scoreless innings to earn the win Wednesday over Washington.
ImpactThe right-hander was the Colorado pitcher to finish the fifth inning after starter Peter Lambert was tagged for five runs in two innings. Goudeau has struggled a bit in September, allowing eight runs in 15 innings while posting a 2-1 record. He's pitched to a 4.60 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 22:15 K:BB across 31.1 innings overall between Colorado and Cincinnati, mainly as a multi-inning reliever.
SEPTEMBER 30, 2021ROTOWIRE
Peter Lambert - Yields five runsLambert allowed five runs on eight hits and a walk with one strikeout in two-plus innings versus Washington on Wednesday. He did not factor in the decision.
ImpactLambert would have taken the loss, but Colorado was able to take the lead in the third inning after a rain delay. The right-hander gave up seven runs, 12 hits and a pair of walks in 5.2 innings across two starts after returning from July 2020 Tommy John surgery. The 24-year-old figures to be a full-time candidate for the Rockies' rotation in 2022.
