Angels’ Wilson offers advice to athletes regarding safe celebrations

C.J. has some (tongue-in-cheek) suggestions for athletes when it comes to parties.

Recently, Jason Pierre-Paul of the New York Giants made headlines after suffering injuries related to a fireworks mishap over July 4 weekend. Not to be outdone, Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback C.J. Wilson reportedly lost two fingers in his own fireworks-related accident

Enter Los Angeles Angels left-hander C.J. Wilson (no relation). On Wednesday, he took to Twitter to issue a PSA to fellow athletes about how not to wind up in stories like the ones above, whether they’re celebrating a holiday, a big contract or any other reason:

That advice can be applied to non-athlete folk in society as well, of course. Whenever Independence Day weekend rolls around each year, fireworks and celebration-related activities make the news for unfortunate (and painful) reasons. Additionally, having a safe party is probably much, much less dangerous than one featuring more ‘extreme’ forms of entertainment.

Be safe out there!
