Michael Pineda - Will miss one or two startsPineda (not injury related) will miss a start or two at the beginning of the regular season, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports.
ImpactPineda didn't sign with the Tigers until March 18 and was behind schedule due to visa issues. He'll fill a rotation role once he's built up his workload, but Tyler Alexander is expected to take his place for a turn or two to start the year.

Tyler Alexander - Expected to open year as starterAlexander is expected to be included in the Tigers' Opening Day rotation as the No. 5 starter while Michael Pineda's arrival at spring training remains delayed by visa issues, Jon...
ImpactThough Pineda's visa issues could be resolved any day now, the 33-year-old won't have enough time to complete a buildup program that would put him on track to handle a starter's workload by the time the regular season begins. Prior to Detroit's addition of Pineda earlier this month, Alexander had already been stretching out for a possible starting role, so his preparation for the upcoming season shouldn't be affected by Pineda's ongoing absence. According to Morosi, the Tigers are expecting Alexander to take up to two turns in the rotation before transitioning into a long-relief role once Pineda is available.

Ben Rortvedt - Takes swings off teeRortvedt (oblique) was cleared to resume hitting off a tee Monday, Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News reports.
ImpactRortvedt has taken another step forward in his recovery from an oblique strain, but he'll likely need to graduate to hitting soft-toss pitching and then live batting practice before being deemed ready for Opening Day. The young catcher doesn't look like he'll have enough time to gain clearance for the April 7 season opener versus Boston, but he shouldn't be in store for a lengthy stay on the injured list to begin the campaign. In the meantime, Kyle Higashioka is expected to serve as the Yankees' top backstop while Rortvedt is idle.
