Elon holds on to beat CAA-leader UNC Wilmington 77-76 (Feb 11, 2017)

ELON, N.C. (AP) Brian Dawkins scored 24 points and Luke Eddy made a pair of late free throws, and Elon edged UNC Wilmington 77-76 on Saturday.

Eddy's free throws gave the Phoenix a 77-74 lead with 1:22 left before C.J. Bryce made a jump shot to pull the Seahawks to 77-76 with 48 seconds remaining. Tyler Seibring missed a 3 on Elon's next possession, but Denzel Ingram missed a jumper on the other end. Brian Dawkins then forced a steal to seal it for the Phoenix.

Jordon Talley had 20 points to lead UNC Wilmington (22-5, 11-3 Colonial Athletic Association), which has lost three of its last five, yet still has a one-game lead over Charleston atop the conference standings. Bryce had 19 points and Ingram finished with 17.

Seibring added 14 points, Dainan Swoope had 13 and Eddy chipped in 10 for Elon, which snapped a two-game skid. (16-11, 8-6).
