You've got to try this: Charlotte Motor Speedway's unique food options
Charlotte Motor Speedway has always been a leading force in implementing innovative changes and making things as fun and unique as possible. From the addition of lights in the early 1990s, to one-of-a-kind pre-race shows, to the the giant HDTV screen on the backstretch, Charlotte is always finding ways to improve the fan experience.
That mindset also applies to the foods sold around the 1.5-mile speedway.
Fans in attendance for Saturday night's Bank of America 500 will have two of unique options when it comes to what to eat: the Big Hog Cheddar Dog and a S'mores funnel cake.
The Big Hog Cheddar Dog actually made its debut at the Charlotte Motor Speedway's Auto Fair, but will be on the menu for a NASCAR race for the first time this weekend. The monstrous item is a foot-long hot dog wrapped in jalapeno bacon and covered with chili, shredded cheddar cheese, fried onions and fried jalapenos and served on a pretzel roll. Amazingly, the Big Hog Cheddar Dog weighs over half a pound and stacks up at 2,000 calories.
After eating up the big hot dog, fans can enjoy a S'mores funnel cake for desert. This delicacy is a fluffy funnel cake, warmed to a golden brown crisp, then covered with marshmallow drizzle, chocolate sauce and Graham Crackers, topped with marshmallows piled on top of a bed of chocolate shavings.
But crazy foods are nothing new to the speedway. Over the years, Charlotte has featured the likes of a bacon funnel cake and a Krispy Kreme donut cheeseburger. So if you're out at the speedway Saturday night, why not round out your NASCAR experience with one of these unique culinary treats.
