Young Bucks Tracker: Jan. 14 edition

With two-thirds of the roster born after 1990, the Milwaukee Bucks are a young, growing team. Every Thursday for the rest of the season, FOX Sports Wisconsin will take a closer look at the players that are still in their first three NBA seasons, measuring, highlighting and evaluating their progress.

This is the ninth edition of the 2015-16 Young Bucks Tracker.

A glossary of the advanced statistics used for season totals:

PER -- Player Efficiency Rating: A measure of per-minute production standardized such that the league average is 15.

TS% -- True Shooting Percentage: A measure of shooting efficiency that takes into account 2-point field goals, 3-point field goals, and free throws.

USG% -- Usage Percentage: An estimate of the percentage of team plays used by a player while he was on the floor.

ORtg -- Offensive Rating: An estimate of points produced per 100 possessions.

DRtg -- Defensive Rating: An estimate of points allowed per 100 possessions.

VORP -- Value over Replacement Player: A box score estimate of the points per 100 TEAM possessions that a player contributed above a replacement-level (-2.0) player, translated to an average team and prorated to an 82-game season.

GIANNIS ANTETOKOUNMPO (Age 21, third season)

Statistical season averages (last week): 15.4 points (15.3), 6.9 rebounds (9.0), 2.8 assists (4.3), 1.0 steals (1.0), 1.1 blocks (0.8), 33.8 minutes (35.3), 50.2 FG% (50.0), 22.2 3PT% (0.0).

Advanced stats, season: 16.5 PER, 56.5 percent TS%, 21.3 percent USG%, 106 ORtg, 108 DRtg, 0.8 VORP.

Notable: While Antetokounmpo's statistics over the four games last week were almost a mirror image of his season per game stats, it was a wildly inconsistent past seven days for "The Greek Freak." He started out with games of just five and eight points, then finished with 29 and 19. In Wednesday's game at Washington, he played over 40 minutes for the first time since Dec. 29 and, interestingly, was being used at point guard during the fourth quarter of what was a close game. On top of all that, he had three straight games of double-digit rebounds for the first time in his career (with 10, 10 and 11 in the last three contests). One last note: Antetokounmpo's game in the win over the Bulls might have been the best of his career -- 29 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 0 turnovers, along with a season-high +21 plus/minutes, in just over 31 minutes.

MICHAEL CARTER-WILLIAMS (Age 24, third season)

Statistical season averages (last week): 11.8 points (8.5), 4.8 rebounds (6.5), 5.8 assists (6.5), 1.6 steals (3.3), 0.7 blocks (0.3), 30.6 minutes (31.8), 44.9 FG% (30.8), 32.1 3PT% (0.0).

Advanced stats, season: 15.1 PER, 49.2 percent TS%, 21.9 percent USG%, 97 ORtg, 108 DRtg, 0.4 VORP.

Notable: Last week we lauded Carter-Williams' shooting accuracy. This week, MCW fell off the cliff. His best game was a 5 of 12 effort (41.2 percent). He followed that up with 1 of 8, 4 of 13 and 2 of 6, and found himself on the bench in the fourth quarter in the close loss to the Wizards. Aside from his game against Dallas -- 15 points, 12 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals -- Carter-Williams trended in the wrong direction in the last week.

TYLER ENNIS (Age 21, second season)

Statistical season averages (last week): 3.4 points (0.0), 1.1 rebounds (0.0), 1.1 assists (2.0), 0.3 steals (0.0), 0.1 blocks (0.0), 10.8 minutes (16.0), 40.7 FG% (0.0), 30.8 3PT% (0.0).

Advanced stats, season: 7.5 PER, 47.1 percent TS%, 18.4 percent USG%, 90 ORtg, 113 DRtg, -0.2 VORP.

Notable: I wonder how much Ennis, while riding the bench game after game, thinks of what could have been if he had stayed in school one more year. It was somewhat of a surprise he left Syracuse after one year and the Orange could have used a point guard the following season (they went with freshman Kaleb Joseph, who one year later, barely plays). Ennis got into just one game this week -- against the Knicks -- and while he did play over 16 minutes, he missed all his shots, meaning he still hasn't scored a point in 2016 (and he's played only twice since Dec. 26).

Advanced stats, season: 2.8 PER, 41.0 percent TS%, 14.8 percent USG%, 70 ORtg, 107 DRtg, -0.1 VORP.

Notable: Like Ennis, Inglis appeared in only one game last week, the defeat in New York, although he played less than 3 minutes. It was his first action since Dec. 23 and the most minutes since Nov. 10 when he played over 12.

JOHNNY O'BRYANT (Age 22, second season)

Statistical season averages (last week): 3.5 points (1.3), 3.0 rebounds (2.7), 0.6 assists (0.0), 0.4 steals (0.0), 0.1 blocks (0.0), 14.6 minutes (11.3), 43.7 FG% (25.0), 1.000 3PT% (n/a).

Advanced stats, season: 8.8 PER, 46.9 percent TS%, 13.4 percent USG%, 100 ORtg, 111 DRtg, -0.3 VORP.

Notable: A telling week for O'Bryant: In Milwaukee's two wins, he had a DNP and played under 4 minutes. In the two losses, O'Bryant was on the court for roughly 15 minutes in each.

JABARI PARKER (Age 20, second season)

Statistical season averages (last week): 11.3 points (15.5), 4.3 rebounds (4.3), 1.2 assists (1.3), 0.7 steals (2.03), 0.4 blocks (0.3), 26.7 minutes (30.3), 47.8 FG% (58.3), 0.0 3PT% (n/a).

Advanced stats, season: 14.7 PER, 52.0 percent TS%, 18.5 percent USG%, 107 ORtg, 112 DRtg, -0.2 VORP.

Notable: Parker's strong play continues as he slowly rounds into the form that the Bucks thought they were getting with the No. 2 overall pick a year ago. An injury curtailed that, obviously, but his streak of double-digit scoring games has reached eight, including a season-high 22 points at Washington. He is shooting 53.8 percent from the field in that span and is averaging 5.1 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game.

RASHAD VAUGHN (Age 19, first season)

Statistical season averages (last week): 2.4 points (4.8), 1.2 rebounds (1.3), 0.4 assists (0.8), 0.3 steals (0.8), 0.2 blocks (0.50), 10.9 minutes (20.8), 29.5 FG% (31.8), 34.8 3PT% (33.3).

Advanced stats, season: 4.1 PER, 39.8 percent TS%, 14.2 percent USG%, 80 ORtg, 112 DRtg, -0.4 VORP.

Notable: Vaughn showed something against the Knicks in nearly 30 minutes of action, scoring 10 points and making half his shots (including 2 of 3 3-pointers). After playing almost 16 minutes vs. Chicago, Vaughn again got over 20 minutes (24:11) of playing time at Washington and was on the court in the pivotal fourth quarter. Of course, he made only 3 of 10 shots in those last two games (0 of 4 from 3-point land), so we'll see how long this experiment continues.
