Twins minor-league stars of the week: July 3

Published Jul. 3, 2015 12:15 p.m. ET

This week's FOXSportsNorth.com Minor League Star of the Week is prized pitching prospect Jose Berrios, who, after dominating the Double-A ranks, is now bound for Triple-A Rochester.

In his last start with the Twins' Double-A outfit in Chattanooga, on June 28, Berrios went seven innings, allowing just one run on two hits, while striking out six in the Lookouts' win at Montgomery.

Here's a look at what Berrios and the rest of this week's minor-league stars did throughout Minnesota's minor-league system.

TRIPLE-A ROCHESTER

Player of the Week: 2B James Beresford

2015 stats: .311/.344/.366, 12 2B, 27 RBI

Recent highlights: Beresford had three multi-hit games over the past week, leaving his average in impressive territory. His sterling overall numbers have helped Beresford, 26, earn a spot in this year's Triple-A All-Star Game.

Pitcher of the Week: RHP A.J. Achter

2015 stats: 3-2, 2.27 ERA, 13 saves, 35.2 IP, 34 Ks

Recent highlights: Achter has produced five saves over his last 10 games, striking out 13 batters in 13 innings in the process. He, too, is bound for the Triple-A All-Star Game.

DOUBLE-A CHATTANOOGA

Player of the Week: CF Max Kepler

2015 stats: .346/.417/.556, 20 2B, 32 RBI

Recent highlights: The native German, whose full name is Maximillian Kepler, has looked like a million bucks of late. Kepler, 22, hit .474 over a recent 10-game stretch, including a three-hit, three-RBI game on June 28.

Pitcher of the Week: RHP Jose Berrios

2015 stats: 8-3, 3.08 ERA, 90 2/3 IP, 92 Ks, 24 BB

Recent highlights: Berrios, 21, has been rock solid throughout 2015, which earned him a promotion to Triple-A Rochester earlier this week. We think that's a good thing, despite the fact the Twins seem to call everyone up from the Double-A ranks of late.

HIGH-A FORT MYERS

Player of the Week: C Alex Swim

2015 stats: .314/.356/.357, 32 RBI, 29 runs

Recent highlights: Swim, a 24-year-old backstop, has been steady of late, with eight hits over the past week. He powered the Miracle's offense on July 1, for example, going 3 for 5 with three RBI.

Pitcher of the Week: RHP Ryan Eades

2015 stats: 5-1, 2.92 ERA, 74.0 IP, 49 Ks, 21 BB

Recent highlights: Eades, a second-round pick by the Twins in 2013, has churned out several quality starts of late. He's 4-1 over his last 10 outings, and surrendered just five hits and one lone run over seven innings in his last outing, a win over Dunedin.

LOW-A CEDAR RAPIDS

Player of the Week: C Alex Real

2015 stats: .330/.390/.455, 5 2B, 11 RBI

Recent highlights: The Kernels' old slogan was "It's always game day," and this 22-year-old catcher has taken it to heart. Real has produced ceaselessly in recent weeks, hitting .342 during a stretch from June 19-July 2.

Pitcher of the Week: RHP Randy LeBlanc

2015 stats: 5-1, 1.59 ERA, 45.1 IP, 41 Ks, 12 BB

Recent highlights: LeBlanc, a lanky, 6-foot-4 righty, has impressed all season. In his last outing, on June 30, he yielded just one hit, struck out two and surrendered nary a run over three innings, at Wisconsin.
