Suspended Jordan Thomas returns to Sooners practice

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 11:40 p.m. ET

Jordan Thomas was punished and had to sit out Oklahoma's last game against Tulsa.

The sophomore cornerback apparently broke a team rule, but he has returned to practice and could start this week against West Virginia, when Oklahoma hosts the Mountaineers at 11 a.m. Saturday.

OU beat Tulsa 52-38, but Tulsa went on to pass for 427 yards. Thomas was replaced by freshman P.J< Mbanasor, who was exposed repeatedly and then replaced in the second half.

"He practiced well last week and should be in position to hopefully help us make a difference this week," coach Bob Stoops said of Thomas.

Stoops did not say if Thomas would start this week, but it would be surprising if he doesn't.

"We'll see how the week goes," Stoops said.
