Sunday's big finish at U.S. Open could provide Scott with spark

It's been a rough go for Adam Scott so far in this 2015 PGA Tour season. In 10 events, the former World No. 1 has recorded just two top-10 finishes and sits 102nd on the money list, but his spirits have remained high, mostly because he has felt like his game is really close to coming together.

That feeling became reality Sunday at the U.S. Open. Scott's bogey-free round of 6-under 64 was the best of the tournament and was good enough to catapult him into a tie for fourth place at 3-under.

Although his valiant effort in the final round fell two strokes shy of forcing an 18-hole Monday playoff with eventual champion Jordan Spieth, it might have been just what Scott needed to get back on track as he heads into the second half of the season.

"I needed to make a run today" Scott told reporters following his round, "I took advantage of some of the holes playing a bit shorter and didn't have any disasters out there."

That will always bode well in a U.S. Open.

So here's to hoping he can continue his strong play, golf sure is a whole lot more fun with Adam Scott in the mix.
