The Green Bay Packers placed Ty Montgomery on injured reserve Friday, ending the 24-year-old's season five weeks early.

Green Bay signed wide receiver Michael Clark, an undrafted rookie from Marshall, from the practice squad to the 53-man roster.

After taking over the starting running back position midway through last season, Montgomery began the year in the backfield before being hampered with injuries to his ribs and wrist.

He last played Nov. 12 in the Packers' 23-16 win over the Chicago Bears.

Montgomery tallied 446 total yards and four touchdowns in the eight games he was active. The running back role has since been taken over by rookies Jamaal Williams and Aaron Jones, who have combined for 594 rushing yards and five touchdowns.
