MRI comes back clean for Rangers ace Darvish

The Texas Rangers received expected but good news on right-hander Yu Darvish Tuesday as the MRI on his right elbow came back clean.

The right-hander is now free to begin his regular offseason workouts after getting the clean bill of health from Rangers team doctor Keith Meister.

One change in Darvish's offseason plans is that he'll spend the next several weeks working out in Texas instead of spending it in Japan, which will allow Rangers personnel to better monitor him.

Darvish expects to start throwing again in December in a bid to put a tough 2014 season behind him. Darvish was 10-7 with a 3.06 ERA in 22 starts but went on the 15-day disabled list Aug. 13 with right elbow inflammation. He was shut down for the season three weeks later.

• The Rangers finalized the sale of three players to Asian teams Tuesday. Outfielder Jim Adduci was sold to the Lotte Lions in the Korea Baseball Organization. Pitchers Aaron Poreda and Miles Mikolas were sold to the Yomiuri Giants in the Nippon Professional League in Japan.
