Hawks re-sign versatile forward Mike Scott

Mike Scott, a second-round pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, made it to his second NBA contract. Atlanta Hawks general manager Danny Ferry announced on Tuesday morning that the franchise re-signed the skilled forward.

Terms of the deal were not announced.

"Mike has worked hard and continues to adapt, improve and expand his all around game," Ferry said in a statement. "We are very happy to have him with us going forward and we look forward to his continued growth with our group."

With Scott back in the mix, the Hawks return eight of their top nine scorers (points per game) from a year ago, losing only guard Louis Williams in a trade with the Toronto Raptors.

The 6-foot-8 Scott will likely join a frontcourt rotation of Al Horford, Paul Millsap, Pero Antic, Mike Muscala and '14 first-round Adreian Payne.

Scott took on a more prominent role with the Hawks last season, upping his averages in minutes (18.5), points (9.6), rebounds (3.6) and true shooting percentages. He developed his outside shot in his second NBA season, knocking down 62 3-pointers after missing his only long-range attempt as a rookie. He also logged the first six starts of his career.

Though his efficiency numbers decreased slightly with more playing time, he nearly tripled his win shares (2.6) and should give coach Mike Budenholzer another versatile piece.
