The Hawks signed free-agent guard Kent Bazemore and brought back forward/center Elton Brand, the team announced Tuesday.

Bazemore split time last year with the Warriors and Lakers, averaging 6.0 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 13.6 minutes over 67 games. The 6-foot-5 Old Dominion product is entering his third year in the NBA.

"Kent's competitiveness and versatility make him a great addition to our group," coach Mike Budenholzer said in a statement. "He can impact the game in a lot of ways, especially defensively guarding multiple positions. Kent's work ethic and enthusiasm for the game make him a great teammate and great fit with the Hawks."

Brand spent 73 games with Atlanta last season, making 15 starts, and added 5.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, a team-high 1.2 blocks and an assist per game.

A 15-year veteran, Brand has appeared in 1,005 games with the Bulls, Clippers, Sixers, Mavericks and Hawks, averaging 16.6 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.8 blocks in 34 minutes a game. A two-time All-Star, he was named to the All-NBA Second Team in 2005-06, won the NBA Sportsmanship Award in 2006 and shared NBA Rookie of the Year honors in 1999-2000.

"We are happy to retain Elton," Budenholzer said. "In addition to the production he gives us on the court, he is the ultimate professional and a terrific leader. Elton's presence is felt by all of us, but especially his teammates."
