Dolphins sign offensive lineman J.D. Walton

With an eye towards fortifying their offensive line corps, the Miami Dolphins announced the signing of unrestricted free agent J.D. Walton to a one-year contract on Thursday.

"I would like to welcome J.D. to the Miami Dolphins," said Dolphins General Manager Dennis Hickey. "He is a young, but experienced player who will be a positive addition to our offensive line."

Walton started all 16 games for the New York Giants last year as part of an offense that ranked in the top ten in both yards per game and passing yards per game. He has previously played for the Denver Broncos, who selected him in the third round of the 2010 NFL draft, as well as the Washington Redskins in 2013.

The former Baylor product has started in all 52 games he's played in the NFL, including two playoff games with the Broncos.

Walton, 27, can play at both center, where he can provide depth behind Mike Pouncey, or as an offensive guard.
