Dolphins load up RBs by signing Daniel Thomas, Isaiah Pead

MIAMI (AP) -- Running backs Daniel Thomas and Isaiah Pead have signed with the Miami Dolphins, who wanted to add depth at the position after Lamar Miller left for Houston.
Thomas, a second-round draft choice by Miami in 2011, will return to play for his third Dolphins head coach. Pead was drafted in the second round in 2012 but has only 19 career carries for 78 yards, all with the Rams.
Also signed Thursday was MarQueis Gray, a three-year veteran who has played with three teams. He started his NFL career at running back before switching to tight end.
The Dolphins re-signed linebacker Spencer Paysinger, who played mostly on special teams last year.
Thomas and Pead will compete with second-year pro Jay Ajayi. The Dolphins might add another running back in free agency or the draft.
