The Miami Dolphins added more depth to their offensive line Wednesday with the signing of veteran lineman Jeff Linkenbach and Jacques McClendon to one-year deals.

"I would like to welcome Jeff and Jacques to the Miami Dolphins," Dolphins general manager Dennis Hickey said in a release. "They are both experienced and versatile players."

Linkenbach, 27, has appeared in 76 games (36 starts) with the Indianapolis Colts and Kansas City Chiefs after going undrafted out of the University of Cincinnati in 2010.

With experience at both guard and tackle, Linkenbach projects to be one of the more versatile players in Miami's group of reserve lineman that currently includes Jason Fox, J.D. Walton, Sam Brenner, Mark Aspen and McClendon.

"I've played all four, I've started all four," Linkenbach said of his versatility. "I've had a decent amount of success at each of those positions. I'm comfortable going in or out and ready to do whatever is necessary."

As for where he expects to line up with the Dolphins next season, Linkenbach isn't limiting himself to one position.

"I'm an O-lineman first, and versatility in this league is a great thing," said Linkenbach, who played both guard and tackle for the Chiefs last season. "As we go through OTAs and then training camp, positions will start to define themselves a little more.

"As far as preferences go, at this point I've bounced around so much I'm ready to do anything."

McClendon, 27, has appeared in 22 games (five starts) with the Detroit Lions and Jacksonville Jaguars after being selected by Indianapolis in the fourth-round of the 2010 draft.

"The past three years I've been a swing guy that's been able to step in and do whatever the team needs," said McClendon, who started three games at center for the Jaguars last season. "That's pretty much my M.O., being able to contribute in any way possible and just trying to be a valuable tool for anything."

McClendon also has experience blocking on kickoff returns and would be open to contributing on special teams with the Dolphins.

"I'm willing to do whatever it takes to help this team going forward in any opportunity I may get," he said.

Following the retirement of Daryn Colledge and the release of Shelly Smith, the Dolphins are expected to head into next season with Billy Turner and Dallas Thomas as their projected starters at the left and right guard positions.
