IRVING, Texas -- New Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Greg Hardy's 10-game suspension for domestic violence was reduced to four games by NFL arbitrator Harold Henderson on July 10. Rather than accept the four-game suspension, Hardy has been mulling over the option of fighting the ruling in court in hopes of reducing it even further to two games.

Cowboys Chief Operating Officer Stephen Jones told the media Tuesday at the opening of the Dallas Cowboys Club at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport that the club will stay out of Hardy's business.

"We don't play a role in that," Jones said. "At the end of the day, that's between the NFL Players Union and Greg Hardy and his agent. We certainly know that our eyes were wide open when we got involved with Greg. He's certainly done a great job in the offseason. As far as what ends up happening and where he ends up with the league and the NFLPA is something we're going to accept, but we certainly don't have a hand in it."

According to Pro Football Talk, Hardy is waiting for the final recommendation from the players union before his ultimate decision.

Hardy was convicted of domestic violence on July 15, 2014 for assaulting then-girlfriend Nicole Holder. Last season, The Carolina Panthers placed Hardy on the NFL commissioner's exempt list where he missed 15 regular season and two playoff games. On Feb. 9, 2015, the case was dismissed after Holder failed to appear in court during the jury trial. On April 22, the NFL suspended Hardy for 10 games without pay in 2015, though it was reduced to four on July 10.
