Brendan Schaub and Bryan Callen throw a Tim Tebow rally on The Fighter and The Kid
This week's first episode of The Fighter and The Kid podcast is all about Tim Tebow. Co-host Brendan Schaub was cautious not to get overly excited about his friend Tebow's recent signing with the Philadelphia Eagles, but couldn't say more good things about his work ethic, improvement and attitude.
"Tim still has work to do," Brendan said.
"Tim still has to make the team. So, we're not going to get Eagle tattoos yet. He has to beat four guys out. So, he still has work to do."
That said, Schaub went on to point out that all the Tebow haters in recent years who claimed certainty that he'd never get back in the NFL, were simply posers with pretend expertise. "Anyone who is in the NFL knows that Tim can play in the NFL," the UFC fighter and former football player said.
"It's these analysts who have never played the game ... those aren't educated opinions."
Schaub also commented that it is silly for NFL organizations to have shied away from Tebow because of the attention and pressure he'd bring. Also, thinking of Tebow as some sort of controversial figure, in light of the actions of NFL players like Ray Rice, Adrian Peterson and Aaron Hernandez, struck Brendan as absurd.
"And now you want to criticize Tim Tebow?" he asked.
"The NFL and the world is a better place when Tim's playing football. One hundred percent ... there's no one that works like him."
Co-host Bryan Callen went so far as to say that Tebow has already done enough to be an inspiring figure. "When you see a guy like this who kept doing it," he began, "just to show all these naysayers that they were wrong, is pretty incredible to me. That's pretty inspiring. That's an example, right there."
