Whenever you go to a Barrett-Jackson auction there's always a NASCAR connection, and this year's Reno event is no exception. Racers are car guys, so it's hardly surprising that away from the track they love their hot rods.
One of the Barrett-Jackson Reno cars with a NASCAR connection in Lot 721, a drop-dead gorgeous 1932 Ford Hi-Boy described by the consignor as "built and driven by Bobby Labonte," the 2000 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion and winners of titles in IROC and the NASCAR Nationwide Series as well.
Not only is this hot rod gorgeous in the flesh, it's fast, too. Power comes from what the consignor describes as a 358-cubic-inch "NASCAR engine fitted with a supercharger that has been mildly detuned for the street."
Other updates the consignor notes are a "TCI chassis with completely chromed front suspension, rear coilover suspension setup, 9" Ford rear end, steel hood and grille. TCI Turbo 350 automatic transmission with floor shifter, hand stitched tan leather interior, white faced gauges, tilt wheel and American Racing 17" Salt Flat Special wheels, all covered in an exceptional Boyd Red paint job."
This beautiful custom roadster will be auctioned off on Saturday at Barrett-Jackson Reno, with live television coverage on the National Geographic Channel from 2 p.m. ET to midnight.
