Apolo Anton Ohno, Lisa Fernandez among new directors for L.A. Sports Council Board

The Los Angeles Sports Council's board of directors added some Olympic star power for its 2016-17 term.

Apolo Anton Ohno and Lisa Fernandez were among the six new members elected and will join Andy Cohen (Co-CEO, Gensler), Nicole Duckett Fricke (General Counsel, Los Angeles Clippers), Tom Penn (President, Los Angeles Football Club) and Timothy Romer (Managing Director, Goldman Sachs) to serve as directors of the Southern California Committee for the Olympic Games.

"These new members will greatly enhance this organization's role of attracting major sporting events to our community," said Sports Council Chair Karen Brodkin in a statement on Thursday.
