Vernon Davis might've cost the Broncos with a bad, bad drop
The Denver Broncos traded for Vernon Davis in hopes he'd become their big-play tight end.
But Davis' first season in orange and blue might be defined by the big play he didn't make. The 10-year veteran dropped a huge fourth-down pass that might've sealed a win over the Oakland Raiders in Week 14.
Davis, via Brandon Spano of BSN Denver: The ball was thrown; I got super excited because I knew I was going to be wide open. I took my eyes off the ball and wasn’t able to pull it in.”
No Raiders defender was remotely close to Davis. It could've easily been the Broncos' biggest play of the afternoon -- but he dropped it.
It spoiled his finest game as a Bronco (seven catches, 74 yards) and, in turn, spoiled his team's chances at retaining the AFC's two-seed this week.
