Tom Brady's 'Ted 2' cameo features added Deflategate line
You didn’t really think “Ted 2″ would make it to the big screen without a Deflategate joke, did you?
The comedy sequel starring Mark Wahlberg and the titular teddy bear (it sounds absolutely ridiculous when you really think about it) debuts across the country Friday. In addition to Wahlberg and the bear — voiced by Seth MacFarlane — the film features a star-studded cast.
New England Patriots fans will be happy to know that star quarterback Tom Brady makes a cameo where he’s, um, flattered by Wahlberg and Ted. Apparently, MacFarlane, who also co-wrote and directed the film, made sure there’d be a Deflategate joke in the movie. However, that whole mess broke after the movie wrapped up production, so it had to be added after the fact.
"That was an ADR (automated dialogue replacement) line,” MacFarlane explained in an interview with Collider. “That all happened after we shot the movie.”
Unfortunately, the line wasn’t delivered by Brady, but rather by Wahlberg’s character, John, who’s a Boston boy. The addition might actually end up being a surprise to the Patriots quarterback, who’s been a little busy with other things.
“You know, I actually don’t know (if Brady knows about the addition),” MacFarlane continued. “I didn’t. Hopefully, somebody did. John, as a Boston character, is defending Tom, so I don’t think it will be a problem.”
