San Francisco 49ers president Jed York says team will win the division, despite 0-5 start

"We're going to win the division," 49ers team president Jed York said in a text message sent to ESPN on Monday morning.

Such a turnaround would make the 49ers the only team in NFL history to reach the postseason after losing its first five games. Outscored 130-76 this season, the 49ers remain hopeful because of a schedule that appears easier over the final 11 games.

Coach Mike Singletary, whose job security is under increasing scrutiny, embraced his boss' crystal ball.

"That was our first goal: to win the division, to get in the playoffs and have a chance to play for the big one," Singletary said. "That is still our goal."

Next up: The Raiders (2-3) at Candlestick Park on Sunday.
