METAIRIE, La. (AP) New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis says the club has signed tight end Garrett Griffin and has waived defensive lineman Mitchell Loewen because of a non-football injury.

The 6-foot-4, 240-pound Griffin, whose signing was announced Monday evening, is an undrafted rookie out of Air Force, where he played the past four college seasons.

A native of Louisburg, Kansas, Griffin played in 44 games with 17 starts for Air Force, catching 41 passes for 670 yards and eight touchdowns.

Last season, Griffin missed his first five games while recovering from a knee injury, but returned for eight games in which he caught 12 passes for 208 yards and three touchdowns.
