Robert Griffin III says goodbye to Redskins fans on Twitter

Three disappointing years after he led the Redskins to the playoffs as a rookie and became the face of the franchise, 26-year-old Robert Griffin III was released by the Washington Redskins. Griffin sat out the entirety of the 2015 season and didn't even dress for games, as he fell to third on the depth chart behind Colt McCoy.
Griffin, famous for crafting hilarious slogans to define each year ("Know your why," "Talk small, play big"), still found ways to motivate his team from the sideline, and left an inspirational poster hanging in his locker room earlier this year. On Monday, Griffin saluted Redskins fans for their support over the years after days of tweets that are unintentionally heartbreaking.
It was a blessing guys. I just want to say thank you. pic.twitter.com/wzHbsRMlhL
