The Carolina Panthers advanced to the NFC Championship Game on Sunday. They might have dodged losing one of their best pass rushers for the forseeable future
Defensive end Jared Allen suffered a foot injury, The Charlotte Observer first reported.
NFL Media's Ian Rapoport reports that Allen broke a small bone in his foot, but a source says that he plans to play next week.

Allen was acquired from the Chicago Bears in September for a sixth-round pick. In his 12th season, Allen has produced at a consistent level and his loss would be a blow to defensive coordinator Sean McDermott's unit.
