Report: Texans LB Brian Cushing out six weeks with a torn MCL
The Houston Texans got injured defensive end J.J. Watt back in time for their season opener against the Chicago Bears, but they lost another key cog in their defense once the game got started.
Inside linebacker Brian Cushing left Sunday’s game in the first quarter, and by the second half it was reported that he will miss six weeks with a torn MCL that will not require surgery.

Cushing, 29, was dominant when he entered the league in 2009 but hasn’t made a Pro Bowl since. He missed 20 games in 2012 and 2013 due to knee injuries before playing in 30 of 32 regular-season games the past two seasons. He led Houston in tackles last season with 110.
