Report: Roethlisberger has broken foot

Published Dec. 2, 2010 12:00 a.m. ET

Pittsburgh Steelers starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said he suffered a sprained foot during the team’s Week 12 game against the Buffalo Bills. However, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported his right foot is actually broken. The fifth metatarsal bone or the outside metatarsal of his foot is where the actual break is located.

Roethlisberger took in less than his normal practice reps for the second straight day Thursday.

The team released a statement Thursday evening on the signal caller’s injury.

Steelers spokesperson Dave Lockett said in a statement, "There is no new fracture in Ben’s foot. Ben’s current injury is an aggravation of an old injury where scar tissue is present.”

Roethlisberger said he “fully” expected to play against the host Baltimore Ravens on Sunday evening.
