Report: NFL says Cris Carter comments are 'unfortunate and inappropriate'
Hall of Fame wide receiver Cris Carter's comments at one of last year's NFL rookie symposiums went viral on Sunday.
Carter told rookies they should have a "fall guy" who is ready to take blame if they get into legal trouble.
"This was an unfortunate and inappropriate comment made by Cris Carter during the 2014 NFC rookie symposium," the NFL's statement said, via Pro Football Talk. "The comment was not representative of the message of the symposium or any other league program. The league's player engagement staff immediately expressed concern about the comment to Cris. The comment was not repeated in the 2014 AFC session or this year's symposium."
While Carter was figuring to give the rookies a dose of reality, he has certainly caused quite the firestorm.
