Report: 49ers release Darnell Dockett

Darnell Dockett's stint in the Bay Area didn't go as planned.

The defensive end was released in advance of Saturday's 1 p.m. deadline to finalize the 53-man roster, per CSN Bay Area's Matt Maiocco.

Dockett signed a one-year deal with the 49ers in the offseason after 11 seasons in Arizona. 

The Florida State product did not play in 2014 due to a torn ACL he suffered in training camp.
