Police: Marshall's wife called 911

Details surrounding the stabbing of Miami Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Marshall remained foggy Monday despite the release of the 911 call made the night of the incident.

It was hoped the Broward County Sheriff's Office's release of the call would shed more light after Marshall's wife, Michi Nogami-Marshall, allegedly stabbed him in the stomach with a kitchen knife.

The caller, believed to be Nogami-Marshall, says, "Please come, it's an emergency." When the dispatcher responds, "Where?" the caller repeats herself, saying, "Please come, it's an emergency" before hanging up.

The dispatcher's attempts to call back went unanswered.

The conversation did not indicate whether the call took place after Marshall was stabbed or before the incident. The only certainty was that the call was made at 4:41pm local time Friday. Nogami-Marshall was arrested at 7:40 p.m., according to The Palm Beach Post.

Marshall was released from an intensive care unit Saturday after undergoing stomach surgery.

The two-time Pro Bowl selection initially claimed he was hit with a vase before his wife reportedly confessed to the stabbing while telling police she acted in self-defense.

The arresting officer wrote in his report that "both the victim and defendant provided scant information regarding the incident itself."

With the ongoing NFL lockout preventing contact between teams and players, the Dolphins were offered nothing more than confirmation that Marshall was expected to make a full recovery within two to three weeks.

Nogami-Marshall was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and domestic violence. She was released from a Broward County jail Saturday afternoon on a $7,500 bond, according to The Post.

The Dolphins released a statement Saturday emphasizing their difficulty in obtaining facts from the case.

"We are aware of the report, and our thoughts are with Brandon at this time. We will look into the matter. But because we are not allowed to have any contact with any of our players, we will refrain from making any further comment," the statement said.

Marshall had 86 receptions for 1,014 yards and three touchdowns last season, his first with the Dolphins. He spent his first four pro seasons with the Denver Broncos and has career numbers of 413 catches for 5,033 yards and 28 scores.
