CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) The Carolina Panthers have selected defensive back James Bradberry out of Samford in the second round of the NFL draft.

The Panthers, who lost to the Denver Broncos in the Super Bowl, used the 62nd overall pick Friday to fill a need in their defensive secondary following the departure of All-Pro cornerback Josh Norman.

Bradberry, 6-foot-1 and 211 pounds, was a four-year starter with the Bulldogs after transferring from Arkansas State.

Playing primarily at cornerback, Bradberry had eight career interceptions and 27 pass break-ups, and was a two-time all-Southern Conference pick.
