Panthers' GM: 'We feel we've got a stronger roster than last year'

The Carolina Panthers made some offseason additions, but not many that would really blow you away on paper. Still, the Panthers should be a stronger team across the board in 2015, a statement that especially stands true if you ask general manager Dave Gettleman.

As David Newton of ESPN reports, Gettleman was in Spartanburg, South Carolina preparing for training camp while answering a round of questions. One of the first questions was about the roster and how he believes it shapes up heading into training camp.

"A year ago we tried to remake three positions [wide receiver, offensive line, secondary] on the fly. We're not in that position. Just from that standpoint alone it's a stronger roster. We played a lot of young players the last few years. The game experience they've gotten is huge. We feel we've got a stronger roster than last year," Gettleman told ESPN.

No question about it that the offensive unit should be improved. You have Kelvin Benjamin heading into Year 2, with an exciting rookie in Devin Funchess and veteran tight end Greg Olsen. As for that defense? Well, it seems to be the furthest thing from a concern this season, for obvious reasons.
