LB James retires in Dallas after Houston stop

IRVING, Texas (AP) Bradie James is retiring with the Dallas Cowboys after the linebacker spent nine of his 10 seasons with the team that drafted him in 2003.

James signed a one-day contract Tuesday, wrapping up a career that included him being one of six Cowboys with at least 1,000 career tackles. The 33-year-old James played his final season with Houston in 2012.

James was a fourth-round pick out of LSU who started 126 of his 157 games. He set a Dallas franchise record by leading the team in tackles for six consecutive seasons.

He had 202 tackles in 2008, just the second time a Dallas player has topped 200 in a season. Eugene Lockhart did it in 1989.
