Dolphins meeting with o-lineman Hicks

Published Mar. 14, 2012 1:00 a.m. ET

Eric Winston isn’t the only free-agent offensive lineman drawing interest from the Miami Dolphins.

FOXSports.com has learned that Cleveland guard/tackle Artis Hicks is meeting Wednesday with team officials.

Hicks has 71 career starts in 10 NFL seasons split between Philadelphia, Minnesota, Washington and Cleveland. If signed, Hicks would likely compete to start on the right side of the offensive line with both 2011 starters (guard Vernon Carey and tackle Mark Colombo) now that both are unrestricted free agents. Hicks also could be a valuable swing backup.

Hicks, 33, appeared in nine games with three starts last season for the Browns.

Winston, who arrived in South Florida for a free-agent visit Tuesday night, became a surprising roster cut by Houston on Monday after starting all but nine games since being drafted by the Texans in 2006. Winston played at the University of Miami and his brother Matt is a Dolphins college scout. Winston, though, is expected to consider the offers coming his way from a slew of interested suitors.
