Devin Funchess on Kelvin Benjamin: 'We're going to be a dynamic duo'
Devin Funchess is ready for some football. He's also ready to prove that how fast he ran the 40-yard dash out of college isn't going to matter, not one bit. In a recent interview with Josh Katzenstein of The Detroit News, Funchess talked about his 40 time, as well as his expectations for pairing up with second-year receiver Kelvin Benjamin.
Funchess ran a 4.7 40-yard dash at the combine, which was the slowest of any receiver. In his mind, though? It doesn't matter at all.
"I don't really care about what I ran at the combine. I know what I know, and my game speed is faster than what most can run." Funchess told The Detroit News.
Obviously the 40-yard dash is something fans and analysts will talk about, but when a player actually gets on the field, that's when it all really starts to matter. As for the on-field work, Funchess says he's excited to get to work with Benjamin.
"We're going to be a dynamic duo, two 6-5 guys out there on the outside just making damage and causing havoc on the field," Funchess said. "You never see that type of duo in the league, two 6-5 guys on the outside that are athletic and that can run and go up and get the ball. Nobody has that wingspan in the league like us, so it's going to be fun during the season."
Needless to say, fans are just as excited as Funchess is to see the two tall receivers on the field together in 2015.
